Diners, Dives, and Deliciousness…

The 5 Best Diners and Dives in Buffalo/Niagara…

Betty’s Diner - Buffalo

How many places do you know of where you can get great breakfast and lunch staples, and view an art exhibit at the same time?!? Well, Betty’s is that place. For hash lovers (the food, not the drug), the Smoked Turkey Hash is a great option. They also have a Tofu option for the vegans in the crowd. And how about a Broiled Grapefruit? How many times do you see that on the menu? Grapefruit halves topped with brown sugar and broiled until the sugar is carmelized. Crazy good. After you finish your food you can spend some time viewing the Art Exhibit Du Jour from various artists. The exhibit changes periodically so you can see something different every time you come in!

Wild Flour Deli and Bakery - Albion

This is one of those “off the beaten path” gems. If the term ‘gourmet sandwiches’ was ever a thing, this place has them. True to the restaurant’s name, all of the sandwiches are named after flowers, and all of them are fantastic. You can also build your own sandwich with 9 bread options, 8 Meat options, 9 cheese options, and a whole bunch of toppings and sauces. This place isn’t just a "one-trick pony” with good sandwiches, the bakery has amazing cookies and other baked goodies. It is definitely worth a stop if you are in the area.

Mythos - Buffalo

Mythos is open 7 days a week, but if you are in town on the weekend, that is when the menu goes from great breakfast options to OMG with their brunch options! N.Y. Strip and Eggs, Greek Yogurt and Berries Parfait (if you are feeling calorie conscious), or an Apple Waffle ala Mode are just some of the options. They even serve Champagne pick me ups for a little hair of the dog, like Mimosas and Bloody Marys!

Bon Jour Crepes - Lockport

Just a few blocks away from the Erie Canal’s famous double locks is a breakfast and lunch spot that creates the scrumptious French food - Crepes! Proving that Crepes aren’t just for breakfast anymore, their Ham and Swiss Crepe makes a great lunch time meal, while the Nutella and Banana is one of their many great breakfast options. Even though this isn’t technically a diner, we had to add this restaurant in because the food is just plain delish.

Sophia’s Restaurant - Buffalo

Since being featured on Guy Fieri’s TV show a while back, business at Sophia’s is crazy! And the food is crazy good. With all of the traditional favorites along with some local specialties like the South Buffalo omelet (which features Polish Sausage), you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. This is a great breakfast joint and a “Hangover Helper” on a Sunday morning for those who imbibed a bit too heavily the night before.
