Buffalo Bills, NFL, Buffalo

Buffalo has the only two major league sports teams in New York besides NYC. The Bills franchise was one of the founding members of the American Football League in 1960 and they have been to 4 NFL Super Bowls. Their stadium in Orchard Park holds over 71,000 people for football games. We suggest that you spend the extra money to get Club Level tickets especially on the cold Buffalo Sundays in December.

Buffalo Sabres, NHL - Buffalo

The other major league sports team besides the Bills plays it’s home games right in downtown Buffalo at the Key Bank Center. The Sabres have been in Buffalo since 1970 when the league only had 14 teams. They have made it to the Stanley Cup finals twice since then, and have had many great years to entertain the die hard fan base. The stadium holds just over 19,000 people and it gets rockin’ during close games.

Buffalo Bisons, AAA Baseball - Buffalo

The AAA Bisons have played in the next level down from Major League baseball since 1979. They have the largest minor league stadium capacity in the country at just under 16,000 fans, and have been very successful in the league over the years. Watching a Bisons game is a great way to have a low key night in the summertime in Buffalo.

Buffalo Bandits, NLL Lacrosse - Buffalo

In the wintertime, the Keybank Center stadium is shared between the Sabres hockey team and the Bandits indoor lacrosse team. From ice to turf in a couple of hours is no problem for the stadium crew if the teams have games scheduled on back-to-back nights. The Bandits have been in the NLL since it’s inception in 1998 and won the NLL championship in 1996. For those of you who have never seen indoor lacrosse, it is a fast moving and exciting sport that is worth checking out.

Batavia Downs Race Track - Batavia

Watching and betting on the “trotters” as they are called in the horse racing world, is a fun thing to do. The track at Batavia Downs hosts races from July until December at various times. Click on their web-site link for more information. They also have a casino, hotel, and numerous restaurants year round so patrons have a reason to go there throughout the year. They don’t have table games like Blackjack and Craps, you would have to go to Seneca Niagara for that.

Buffalo Raceway - Hamburg

When Batavia downs doesn’t have racing in January to June, you simply have to travel down the Thruway a bit to Hamburg to get your horse racing fix! They don’t have the casino like Batavia, but you can watch the trotters and get your bettin’ on!
